MANAGING PEOPLE (2 days) THE FUNDAMENTAL PROCESS OF MANAGING STAFF AND ALL THAT IT ENTAILS What does being a manager of people mean? What does it involve? How do you go about it? This course is
aimed at those who have to manage others to get the work done. It
concentrates on practical day-to-day issues that have to be addressed if we
are to organise and control others but at the same time bring out their
talents and abilities and put them to good use to achieve organisational
goals. It is intended
for all those people who manage others or who need to know about this most
fundamental management task. At the end of the

this information to achieve greater staff commitment and performance The impact of groups on employee's performance and
effectiveness Performance management and staff appraisal Different styles of managing and leading and choosing the most
appropriate approach to get the best from people Delegation and empowerment – their importance and how to use
these techniques effectively Identifying and meeting development and training needs Managing conflict and dealing with difficult situations and
difficult people METHOD The course uses case
studies and other exercises to investigate and resolve practical issues in
managing people. Debate and discussion will be encouraged so that
participants can consider how the learning points from the course can be
